  • Statewide electronic health records system planned

    JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Plans are underway to develop a statewide electronic health information exchange to provide better access to patient records. A state sponsored regional meeting was held Monday at the Woolfolk Building in Jackson. When Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast nearly five years ago it destroyed thousands of medical records, making it difficult to access patient information. Two years later the governor commissioned a task force to develop a secure statewide electronic records system that all physicians and medical professionals could access.
