Health Information Technology Case Studies

Case Studies

At Hielix, we create operationally sustainable, open solutions for ambulatory physician practices, hospitals and state governments to meet the Federal requirements for exchanging healthcare information. The ability of our team to implement sustainable healthcare IT solutions across a range of HIE-related services comes from our ability to address the two competing pressures within the healthcare marketplace. The first is securing the continued success of the healthcare IT solution itself. The second is maintaining a proper balance between technology requirements and operational realities. Working with healthcare providers, we seamlessly integrate Healthcare IT (HIT) solutions with minimal disruption to current operational and clinical workflows.

Following are ongoing examples of our ability to work with customers to develop sustainable healthcare IT and HIE-related services. For more information on these customers or how we can help you, click here.

Arizona Rural HIE Program

"In the fall of 2007, the Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) of Arizona selected the principals at Hielix to secure services to design and build Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIOs) in rural Arizona based on the Arizona HIE Roadmap adopted in late 2006.

The project commenced with visits to nine cities in rural Arizona to assess the level of readiness for RHIO development. The Hielix team facilitated all of the meetings for GITA and utilized our standardized HIE Framework to maximize the level of interaction between the participants and gather the most information. Community meetings were held in Kingman, Flagstaff, Prescott, Casa Grande, Sierra Vista, Tucson, Show Low, Yuma and Somerton. These meetings had an average attendance of around 15 people
representing various segments of the Arizona healthcare industry." Read more...

Multiple Value Propositions of Health Information Exchange

"The entire healthcare system in the United States is undergoing a major transformation. It is moving from a provider-centric system to a consumer/patient-centric system. Three demographic trends are major drivers of this transformation. First, as the baby boomer generation ages they are already demanding more control over the delivery of their healthcare. Second, every generation is becoming more technologically savvy than ever before and is able to use technology to satisfy its personal wants and needs. Finally, the advent and growth of Health Information Exchange (HIE) provides the enabling tools consumers/patients need to assume more control over their health information and planning."
